Fall trends; What and How I'm going to incorporate into my minimalist capsule wardrobe

It's still summer, but we've all noticed the slight changes in the weather, the shorter days and the covers of the fashion magazines. If it's not enough to know that summer is close to its end, and LD weekend is just two weeks away, our favorite bloggers are sharing their favorite trends of Fall 2017 too.

Make it work!

I'm not a fashion blogger and a capsule wardrobe is all about style over trends, quality over quantity, but as I mentioned in another post we have to build our own capsule and not follow someone else's, That being said, I believe that, if and when we need something to be added to our existing capsule, we can check what is trending. I'm talking about classic lines and colors, not about the trends that will disappear after the season ends. Let's see what the trends are for Fall 2017. Shall we?

1) R E D

It's a classic color. It is also the color of passion and love. It represents power and courage. It can increase confidence. Maybe I should've wore more red in my twenties and thirties, so I would've been more confident, but red never really was part of my closet, and I don't think I can really add this color to my minimal capsule, other than wearing red lipstick and/or nail polish.

Here are a few options that I'll consider:

The products from Saint Cosmetics are toxin free, cruelty free, and gluten free, the bonus? They are made in Canada, and their RED-volution collection is coming with gorgeous shades of red!

Zoya, and Butter London are great options too, if you are looking for toxin free cosmetics.

And If I loved red and had a place in my closet, this coat that I found on eBay would make an amazing staple!

2) Vintage inspired furs

They are basics, with no frills, and we all know that with good basics we have endless options. Faux or real, it depends on your personal preferences. I believe everyone should have the freedom to make his or her own decision. This time I don't want to talk about real versus faux, and their environmental effects. Let's talk about that another time.

I actually own a cream, open front (kinda) faux fur coat, and a gray faux fur vest. Both are from many moons ago, but since they are very basic, they fit into my minimalist style perfectly, and they are great just to throw over a simple long sleeve top, or use them as extra layers in the colder months.

3) Oversized menswear

Broad shoulders can be something that I can see myself adding to my closet and wearing it on a regular, but not sure if I'm going to spend time to find something that fits into this category

4-5) Belted Coats and Wide Belts

These are both classic looks that can be added to any capsules, and they will always look chic. I'm not sure about the wide belts. Yet. But I'm on a haunt for a simple wrap, cocoon, or boxy coat that can be belted when I need to look more sophisticated.

The following trends won't make any appearance in my closet for sure.

Glitterati boots

Western inspired outfits

70's plaid

The only pattern I can have in my closet is stripes, and I can never have enough of them. Again, our capsules have to reflect who we are, how we live and if the minimalist approach isn't your way, you might find yourself adding some plaid to your capsule.

Retro hats

I have a few IG friends who can rock hats like there's no tomorrow, however, I'll stick with a simple toque.

Victorian collars

Leisure suits

Nylon coats, deconstructed classics, fishnets and couch florals, Russian doll vibes and formal velvet won't make any appearance for sure. They wouldn't even make it into my closet if I was still dressing the way I used to do.

Which trends are you excited about, if any? If you have a capsule wardrobe, are you planning on adding some of these trends, or do you not care about trends at all? Would love to read your thoughts on the topic!
